Dr. J is a a Fear Free® Certified Professional, Pet Sitter International (PSI) Certified Professional Pet Sitter® (CPPS). She earned certificates in Pet First Aid and CPCR, the PSI Disaster Planning for Pet Sitters, and the PSI Dog-Care, Cat-Care, and Bird-Care Specialist programs. Dr. J holds a doctorate in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences.
Can you administer medications?
Dr. J administers veterinarian prescribed oral medications and topicals to cooperative pets. She does not offer insulin injections, subcutaneous (Sub-Q) fluid injections, or tube feeding. If you need the latter three services, Dr. J will recommend a qualified veterinary technician or pet sitter.
Are you insured, bonded, and licensed?
Dr. J’s Pet Services, LLC, is insured and bonded through Business Insurers of the Carolinas. A license is not required to operate a pet sitting/dog walking business in Travis County, Austin, Texas.
How many visits does my pet need a day while I’m away?
Do you do every-other-day cat sits?
Dr. J does not do every-other-day cat sits. She visits cat clients at least once a day at approximately the same time. This is because cats can incur sudden potentially lethal ailments, such as an urethral blockage, that requires emergency veterinarian care.
Will you let my indoor/outdoor cat out and in?

Yes! Dr. J is a PhD in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences and is comfortable caring for most small pet species.

How do you handle keys?
Dr. J’s requires two keys, which are coded with no identifying information and kept securely in a home safe when not being used. Keys are picked up for free at the Meet & Greet. There is a $10 fee per each key pick up and return after the initial Meet & Greet.
What payment forms do you accept?
Dr. J’s accepts PayPal, ACH, and major credit cards through the Time to Pet portal, and checks and cash. Invoices are emailed from Dr. J’s Time to Pet portal. Payments are due in full by the first day beginning each invoiced pet service series.
What’s your cancellation and refund policy?
Cancellations must be received by Dr. J’s Pet Services, LLC (Dr. J’s) at least 72 hours before first scheduled visit during NON-HOLIDAY, NON-SPRING BREAK, and NON-SUMMER BREAK, or a cancellation fee of up to $25 will apply per day, but not exceeding 7 days of scheduled visits. Cancellation fees will never exceed original scheduled visit costs. Cancellation fees will be waived if another client schedules your cancelled visit time slots.
Visits scheduled on or around major HOLIDAYS, and over SPRING BREAK (mid-March) and SUMMER BREAK (June 1 – August 19) must be cancelled a minimum of 14 days before first scheduled visit to receive full credit or refund. If holiday cancellation is made 7-13 days before the first scheduled visit, a 50% credit refund to the client’s account will apply to future visits. If holiday cancellation is made 0-6 days before the first scheduled visit, no refund will be issued.
Clients who wish to end their trip early must notify Dr. J’s at least 48 hours before their return to receive a credit on their account for the value of the remaining visits. Failure to notify Dr. J’s in the designated time frame will result in no account credits being issued for the visits cancelled because of early return.
Cancellation credits are valid for six months from the date of cancellation.
Do you charge holiday fees?
Yes. Holiday fees are an additional $7 per visit on the following holidays: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day and weekend, Independence Day, Labor Day and weekend, Columbus Day (Indigenous Day), Veterans Day.
Holiday fees are an additional $10 per visit on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
